Founded by Aaron Tysoe in 2020, DIWPOT quickly grew into a niche mental health occupational therapy service for adults in the greater Brisbane area.
With the addition of Aaron’s wonderful team, DIWPOT evolved into the values-driven practice it is today. Aaron and his team share a core vision; to provide trauma-informed, client-tailored, collaborative and client-led care to all people; delivering their therapies with empathy, respect and patience.
The knowledge they share, paired with their own unique personalities brings about a full-circle experience for clients.
What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?
Occupational therapists aim to provide quality and person-centred support and intervention to empower individuals to achieve functional independence so they can live a life that is meaningful and purposeful. We support people living with mental illness and neurodiversity to return to their daily activities. We use purposeful therapeutic activities, interventions, and use assistive technology/equipment to support individuals to take care of themselves, engage in meaningful activities of daily living and stay active. We foster engagement in meaningful occupations (or daily activities) to improve function, promote connection and nurture wellness.
Our team of occupational therapists work with adults aged 18+ in all aspects of daily life in the home, workplace or in the community. We take a collaborative and strengths based approach to support individuals to upskill or to find solutions to address areas of difficulty and improve their ability to participate and engage in the activities they need and want to do.
In occupational therapy, individuals are encouraged to take an active role in the management of their illnesses or impairment, and they are able to apply learned skills beyond the therapy to live well.
